HOSPITALITY MINISTRY

The Hospitality Ministry Team helps the assembly to form itself into one body ready to enter into the communal act of worship. We greet parishioners arriving for Mass and make them feel welcome. We ensure our place of worship is comfortable (adjust the A/C or heat as the season dictates). We assist with doors and help find seating. We remain attentive to the needs of the assembly during the entire Mass. We assist with any special ritual actions that may occur (distribution of candles, palms, etc.). We collect and present, or enlist others to present, the offering on behalf of the parish. After Mass we bid farewell to each parishioner and ensure that all is in order for the next liturgy or the end of the day. Our purpose is twofold: to prepare for the Sunday liturgy, especially the Responsorial Psalm and the Gospel Acclamation, and to encourage the participation of the congregation in singing. We learn songs and hymns that focus on the Sunday readings, the liturgical season or a liturgical feast. If you like to sing, or feel you need more practice in learning songs/hymns, come and be part of the group. You do not need to be a song leader to participate. PRAYER GROUP

A very real ministry in the church, "The Children of God" reach out to help their fellow man by ministering to their needs. Any place is the right time and place. We intercede with the people for physical and spiritual healing. The needs of the body of Christ are many. "The Children of God" give freely of themselves just as they have received, for Scripture says, "It is in giving to all men, that we receive." Obedience is what God desires as an offering of thanksgiving and a sacrifice of praise for what we have received. Everything in the prayer gathering has a Biblical background and can be found in scripture. "The Children of God" also minister in the church as lectors, lay Eucharistic ministers, leading the Rosary at wake services and hosting spiritual retreats. Come and experience a spiritual awakening and continued renewal as we gather each week.  "To sing is to pray twice" so we sing praises of worship and allow God to speak to us through His Word. We share our personal testimonies, for Scripture says, "They will be known by their testimonies." We meet Saturdays at 6:30 p.m. in the church. If you need a prayer and would like to request the group to pray for your needs come to join us or call a member any time and we will lift you up in prayer. Contact the parish office for additional information,  655-5070.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

The Religious Education Program is for all parish children not attending a Catholic school.  Classes run concurrently with the schedule of the Northeast Independent School District. The gift of faith is the most important gift we can give to our children. Between the media, per pressure, advanced computer technology, and today's fast-paced society, our children must deal with constant pressure and they are often faced with very tough decisions. The awareness of  God's total presence and unconditional love can play an important part in their lives. Classes for elementary grades (1-5) are held on Saturday mornings from 9:30-1100 a.m. and classes for 6-12 grades are  held on Sundays following the 10:00 a.m.. Mass. We also have classes for 4 and 5 year olds during the 10:00 a.m. Mass. If you need more information please call the Religious Education Office, 654-6824.
